Me and Fruit
The picture on the left is me (my eyeliner looks heavy I am not sure why, I don't wear much of it) and the one below it is one of my paintings.
I am having writers block. When I did not have a blog I had some good writing material. Now that I have a blog I can not think of anything to write about.
I call my blog insignificant inquiries because I often wonder about odd things. For example why do cashiers at grocery stores and many other places feel compelled to tell you their life story? Maybe this is rude but i don't care about their life story. Checking out groceries at their register does not mean that I want to be their confidant or therapist. When the life story begins I always want to say, should you lie down for this. But the manners take over and I don't. People often ( for reasons I don't know) tell me all about themselves or feel the need to make conversation. I am a social person I like meeting new and interesting people. But most of them are little on the weird side of life. That is one of my many wonders in life. There will be many more to come.

Very impressed with your painting, Ashley. My mouth is watering, I want a pear!
I like the pics, Ashley. You're a very good looking woman! And you paint well, too. Gosh, I wonder what it's like to be talented...
OK Ash...i'll bite. Here's my insignificant inquiry that you spawned with this post. I've OFTEN wondered why it is that artists have this insatiatable desire to paint fruit, especially pears. Not that i don't like the paintings...yours being a beautiful case in point. i mean, fruit is cool and all but...why not paint...kiwi's, or mangoes, or pomegranates? Pomegranates are cool...why don't they get the... canvas?
Oh and by the way...that was a good post for "not really having anything to write".
Dawn: Thanks. I wanted a pear when I was painting it. But I don't like them. I do not like the texture.
Buck: Thank you on both counts. I am flattered.
Jay: Fruit is easy to paint. Pears are very easy to paint. You can buy a pear and paint it most times of the year. They are nice to look at. They have good colors and shapes. The pear painting was for the art show. People like pears. I painted what I thought people would buy. Pomegranates are one of my favorite fruits. But I have not attempted to paint them. Mostly because, I have not found a good painting or photograph of them. Kiwis would be hard to paint because they are fuzzy. Painting the texture of something is hard. Especially if it is fuzzy or hairy. As for the other fruit I don't know why people do not paint them. The pear painting was my first fruit painting. There will be many more to come. I found a great painting of radishes that I want to paint. Vegetables are a whole different topic.
Ashley, people are drawn to your engaging smile and "all-American girl" look. People think that you must be nice. They don't know that behind that pretty blonde head is a mind like a steal trap. Fortunately, you are polite - must have learned that from your mother.
Jay, Pears do have good shape - Ashely is right. You paint what sells sometimes. Sarah Ann painted a peach that looked like someone's bottom - it was the color and the crack. One must be careful about such things.
Lou: Hum, I have a mind like a steel trap. Thanks! Yes I have learned politeness from my mother. Not my father;) I wish I could have seen the peach. I do remember the Jolly Green Giant bottom though. That was hilarious.
