Rock Climbing

On Saturday we went rock climbing in OKC at Rock Town. It was a blast! This is Allisa and I learning how to belay.
Me climbing (these are rock climbing shoes and no I have no idea why there is not grip on them)
Belaying Allisa
At the top and forced to stop.

These rock walls are built on the inside of old grain silos. You can climb the outside as well but it was a bit cold. It was even cold inside the silos. Half way up my hands would get so cold that they would go numb. Not very reassuring when you can not feel the rock you are grabbing!

Hmmm. Looks interesting but I think I'll pass, given as how I have a pretty advanced case of acrophobia. I've left fingerprints in radar antennae (made of solid steel and aluminum) all over the freakin' world. No mean feat, that. ;-)

OH that looks like sooo much fun! I always wanted to go rock climbing when I was younger--given my tendency to climb everything in sight. Even at 44.

Interesting choice of photos. Nothing like a harness to accent one's bottom, although your hair covers it nicely.

Buck: You have had your fill of heights I see. :D

Becky: It was fun!

Lou: Thank you for pointing that out. I have some worse pictures I chose not to post. You are right about the harness they are VERY unflattering!

Buck: Thank you. You too!

Jay: At rocktown on their website and ever other rock climbing website I have looked at it is spelled belay.

What is belaying?

Belaying is the art of holding the other end of the rope while the climber climbs. The belayer is the person on the ground who controls the rope for the climber, catches them when they fall and lowers them when they are ready to be lowered.

Hannah: It was fun!
